On April 18, 2026, an event dedicated to the Poklek Massacre was held at Reporting House, reflecting on memory, trauma, and survival in relation to one of the war in Kosovo’s most devastating events.
In April 1999, 53 innocent civilians, including 24 children, were killed in Poklek, many of whom were burned alive. The event revisited this tragedy by reflecting on the long-term consequences of violence against civilians.
At the center of the discussion was the experience of a survivor who was only 9 years old at the time, exploring how war trauma persists throughout life and shapes both personal and collective memory.
The event also addressed the importance of survivor testimony, institutional silence, and the need to preserve historical memory as an act of social responsibility.
