On the occasion of February 17, Kosovo’s Independence Day, the animated film A Kosovo Fairytale (2009), directed by Anna-Sofia Nylund, was screened throughout the day at Reporting House.
The film is an animated documentary that interweaves real testimonies from the Neziri family with cut-out animation, telling the story of a refugee family of mixed Albanian and Serbian background who are forced to leave Kosovo following the outbreak of war, while their youngest child remains behind.
As a poignant message to a younger brother, the film addresses the painful decision to migrate, the anxiety about what is left behind, and the collective wound of war.
